A System for the Integrated Access to Digital Libraries

Abstract

There has been lately much effort put on the creation of digital libraries containing antique documents, in order to preserve our cultural heritage and provide a broader access to them, but they are usually isolated one from another. This work presents a system, based on the use of XML trees, to federate three existing digital libraries that contain documents from the Spanish Golden Age (16th-18th centuries). This federation offers very valuable advantages to a wide community of researchers, who will be able to access (at present time, three) databases of historic documents through a unique entry point.
